Split, the Unknown Sequel — Glass update SYFY Wire — November 2018

According to an article on SYFY Wire, owned and operated by NBCUniversal, Universal “bigwigs” didn’t know that Split was a sequel to Unbreakable until executives watched the film.  Unbreakable is a Disney (Buena Vista Pictures and Touchstone Pictures joint) property, and they were concerned about rights, but Shyamalan claims to have gotten permission (also mentioned in 2017 here).
